Labor Day and the Lords Day

Yesterday was a wonderful day at the Mission Chapel and in our ministry with Hispanics where I spoke this Sunday. It was a time where there was ministry of Gods word and a postive atmosphere of the Holy Spirit. We then partook in Holy Communion with the Hispanics. It was very different as they are true worshipers and seekers of God in our Christian Community.

My thoughts today are from the book of Hebrews where it states: He who has entered into rest has ceased from his labors. That the work of Christ has enabled us to enter into his rest. In todays world we needs some rest, however we need spiritual rest as well as physical. Or as scriptures state that the times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord reviving our souls from our works.

I hope all have a wonderful Labor Day and allow our hearts to rest but to not cease from our labors with the Homeless and those who are less fortunate. One thing I am mindful of as I set in my office this morning is that Homelessness is a seven day a week problem. That the Community Rescue Missions doors are open  today to the needs of the community. While other main agencies in our city are closed today for a Holiday the Missions doors are open because the needs of people never go away.

So remember in our city, there is a place where the lights never go out but for briefly through the night.
